Speaker Biographies:

Trooper George Murphy, Jr. New York State Police, Troop G
Trooper Murphy serves as a School and Community Outreach Coordinator for the New York State Police and is
responsible for consulting with businesses and school districts regarding their safety plans in the 10 county region
encompassed by Troop G.  Trooper Murphy conducts presentations regarding workplace violence, threat
assessments, terrorism, incident command training, step away for safety, internet safety, school violence awareness,
preparedness and effective response, domestic violence, and identity theft. In addition, Trooper Murphy conducts
safety audits of schools and businesses to facilitate physical safety and to develop security policies to meet situational
needs.

Prior to joining the New York State Police, Trooper Murphy served as a Corrections Officer for the New York State
Department of Correctional Services at the Great Meadow, Attica, Coxsackie and Greene Correctional Facilities, and
was a member of the Corrections Emergency Response Team. Trooper Murphy served in the United States Marine
Corps from 1976 through 1979 and received an Associates degree in Applied Science from Columbia Greene
Community College.  Trooper Murphy has been recognized with a commendation from the Superintendent of the New
York State Police, honored with a resolution from the New York State Legislature, and honored on the floor of the
United States Congress.

Al Stenson, DHS PSA Protective Security Advisor – Bio will be provided
With roughly 85% of all critical infrastructures and key resource assets owned privately, the Department of Homeland
Security (DHS) recognizes that its core mission to secure America can only be accomplished in partnership with the
businesses that own these assets and with the state governments and local communities within which these assets are
located.  

Special Agent (SA) Josh Ratzlaff has been a Special Agent with the FBI for a period of three years. SA Ratzlaff is
assigned to the FBI's Albany Division and primarily addresses cyber intrusion matters. SA Ratzlaff has worked in the
field of information technology since 1995 and was formerly employed by IBM as an e-business advisor.

John E. Heisler, III, Director of Security, Onondaga County - John was appointed to his current post, Director of
Security, by County Executive Joanie Mahoney, in 2009. John is responsible for maintaining safe and secure buildings,
owned by the County. John conducts yearly state mandated training for county employees, on topics relating to
workplace violence prevention. John graduated from the State University of New York at Cortland with a Bachelor's
degree in English.  John began his career as an intern in the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office, while in
college, and after he graduated became an employee of the DA's Investigations Bureau.  John graduated from law
school in Michigan and returned in 2005, as a criminal law associate, prosecuting misdemeanors in Syracuse City
Court.
